Trailing socket
Collins Fix It Manual was published in 2003. It was created for HarperCollins by Jackson Day and conceived by David Day, Simon Jennings and Albert Jackson.
Its defines a trailing socket as ‘fitted with its own length of flexible cord and a 13amp plug in order to allow for simultaneous connection of several appliances to a mains-fed wall socket.’ A trailing socket may also be referred to as a masterplug, surge protector or power strip.
